Well where do I begin?
I have allways liked music from an early age with a portable record player and my pinky and perky lp’s !!!!
In the early days I was heavily into hip hop due to the fact that a few guys I hung about with in east london were heavily into it so it rubbed off.
I remember loving the tunes and the samples and got hold of some turntables and a mixer and some select 12″ and away I went. Trying to cut and scratch over the records.
I started getting into soul music when I met my best mate tony. He done me a tape of some tunes that turned my music style to the soulfull side.
I started to listen to radio london. And to froggy on capital. And to the hundreds of pirate stations of the time.
During my later years at school a few of us set up a in school radio station and we used to dj at lunchtimes THE SEED HAD BEEN PLANTED !!
So we left school got a van and some gear and me and my mate went mobile for about 6 years.
We covered london and essex and played far and wide.
We had a small residency in a wine bar in stratford for a while then we sort of gave it up.
A few years later I started to dj on my own hear and there. And listen to Active fm in romford.
Where a show called “who dares spins” with Mr Flip caught my ears. After a while I got to guest on the show. And then was offered the chance to help out when it changed to “soul city fm” and is now “time 107.5”.
The show moved to solar radio where I met loads of dj’s promotors and soul royalty.
Since then I have dj’d in many guises and places around essex and london on the soul scene.
And continue to spread the word alongside MR FLIP – DJ BIGGER at a monthly event called SMOOVE GROOVES that is now in its third year.
I have had a stint on a few radio stations and now I’m part of the Cuise FM family .
I appear every fortnight at Frankies Winebar in Hornchurch, Essex.
The northern soul guys have “keep the faith”
I say “ill see you there”
And to steal a quote “WHO DARES SPINS”
