I started collecting records when I was about eight or nine years old. Two tone stuff and soul music generally. This then developed from a hobby into an addiction and has stayed with me ever since. By the time I’d got into my twenties, I had quite a good collection of Ska, Tamla, 60’s soul and Northern Soul. I would spend most of my disposable income on records, clothes ( another great passion of mine) and going on nights out. I had always also liked disco music , Jazz Funk, Boogie and Eighties soul, and when I met my Mrs, she already had some cracking tunes of that genre in her collection. From this point on, I started 2 buy more and more music of that sort.
I wanted to share my love of music with others and it wasn’t long before I was DJ’ing at parties and pubs, spinning my tunes to an audience. This was something I really enjoyed and it gave me a great buzz that nothing else in the world could match. I eventually ended up with an eight year residency at a monthly club in Hertford as well as playing various other gigs including such lavish places as the Isle of Wight! Music has always been a very big part of my life and I can rarely go a day without it.
After nearly a two year break from DJ’ing (because of personal circumstances) , I am now embracing the new fangled technology of using mp3’s instead of vinyl on a set of 1210’s and am very humbled and honoured to have been asked by the crew at Cruise FM to play on some of their radio shows. Right, now what exactly does this button do?!
